Information Requested: An ICBE member company is looking to optimise their training process.Some of the areas they would like to look at are: training evaluation and scoring structure, the use of electronic training tools such as training software, and generally improving the training process from Induction training to Continuous Improvement training . Have any members been through a revamp of this process lately ? If so, the member company would appreciate direction and guidance.
Objective: To improve the member company’s training process and to benchmark against other companies.

Training Evaluation: For operations training a competency review is held at various levels of their training through to final sign off. There is a further 90 day review process. Following training, where there are operator errors a non-conformance process is in place and a coaching session is given to the operator by the area trainer using the stand work/work instruction document to ensure they are able to follow the steps of the procedure – this helps measure training effectiveness also.
Training Software: We use a learning management system called Compliance Wire for a bulk of our training plans. This is now being rolled out fully into operations, removing the cumbersome paper system.
Continuous Improvements: We created an ‘online training’ programme for capacity expansion where greater numbers of employees can be trained at once, in a more efficient and effective way where there are short timelines. At the moment reorganizing the role of the trainer where their focus is solely on operations training and introducing a training effectiveness approach.

Regarding our induction training, we have recently launched part of our company induction on-line (through induction manager).
Other training we carry out are aptitude testing and technical testing.
