Programme Overview

The SureSkills Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis will help the participants to:
Understand the roles and responsibilities of Business Analysts
Be familiar with best practices in Business Analysis and Requirements definition
Attain new skills to successfully develop, manage, and communicate business requirements and be a productive and contributing member of the organizational team
The certificate programme covers the broad range of principles and techniques within the sphere of Business Analysis, and consists of 8 modules:
1. What is Business Analysis
2. Defining The Business Problem1. What is Business Analysis
2. Defining The Business Problem or Opportunity
3. Root Causes of Problems
4. Solution Vision and Scope
5. Developing the Business Case
6. Modelling the Future State
7. Distilling the Requirements from Models
8. Requirements Definition and Documentation

The certificate is relevant to anyone requiring an understanding of Business Analysis including business analysts, business managers and their staff, business change managers and project managers
This qualification provides a foundation for a range of specialist modular certificates in the areas of Business Analysis, IS Consultancy and Business Change. The follow on from this course will prepare a delegate, should they decide to complete the accreditation examination, for the higher level Diploma in Business Analysis.

Programme Objectives

Objective
Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques. Key areas are:
the role and competencies of a business analyst
strategic analysis
business system and business process modeling
stakeholder analysis
nvestigation and modeling techniques
requirements engineering
management of business change

This qualification provides a foundation for the range of specialist ISEB modular certificates in the areas of Business Analysis, IS Consultancy and Business Change. The follow on from this course is the higher level ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis.
In addition, this certificate can be used to provide a foundation in the subject for specialists in other disciplines, particularly Project Managers and System Developers.
Recommendations for potential candidates
There are no specific pre-requisites for entry to the course or examination, although candidates should possess the appropriate level of knowledge to fulfill the objectives. Some prior knowledge and experience within a Business Information Systems environment would be an advantage.

The syllabus is based on the BCS (British Computer Society) publication Business Analysis and students may wish to refer to this text in advance of the course. Further details of this material will be provided to students in advance of the course
The format for the examination is a one hour multiple-choice examination. The examination is closed book.
Candidates who are awarded a pass for the examination are awarded the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis.
Delivery Format
The course is delivered over the course of three days, followed by the multiple choice examination on the final day. The examination is closed book, and candidates must achieve 26 from 40 questions to pass. The course delivery format comprises theory, practical assignments and examination practice.
