The International Aviation Law Module is running at UCD in Dublin in June - The programme will run from 16th to the 20th June, intensive 1 week module - Upon completion of the module, students will be awarded a Professional Certificate in Law (level 9 NFQ) - full details attached.
On successful completion of this module students will be able:
to identify and discuss the principal rules of the international legal framework governing civil aviation
to apply the principles of the Warsaw and Montréal Conventions to a range of practical scenarios
to make informed recommendations about the future development of international harmonisation in aviation finance
to identify and critically assess the continuing challenges in evolving an international framework for the unique legal problems associated with civil aviation
This module will examine the international legal framework for the development of civil aviation. The objective of the module is to develop students’ understanding of the principal regional and international legal instruments which facilitate the registration, safe operation and financing of civilian aircraft. The module will address the legal framework for the carriage of goods and passengers by air and will examine the Warsaw and Montréal Conventions on liability for damage arising from aircraft accidents. The module will also consider the impact of the Aircraft Protocol to the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on the financing and operation of civil aircraft. Finally the module will consider regional developments in aviation law and policy including the development of the EU Single Aviation Market and recent developments relating to the European Emissions Trading Scheme.
