Bowtie Methodology for Risk Assessment & Management in Aviation

28 – 30 September 2015
IAA (Air Navigation Service Provider)
The Times Building, 11-12 D'Olier Street, Dublin 2
Please join us at a best practice Safety Seminar (28 September) and BowTie Training Workshop
(29-30 September) to be held in Dublin at the IAA Conference Center.

BACKGROUND

Barrier based risk models and in particular BowTie diagrams are increasingly being used to
integrate data and understanding of key aviation safety risks. Informal exchanges of such
models between airlines and others have been taking place for some time. In 2014, the CAA UK
launched a project to build and share risk models related to their Significant Seven risks. (The
BowTieXP models resulting from this initiative are now available to be downloaded from the
CAA UK site.) Many in the industry see the continued maturation of these initiatives as marking
the next generation in improved aviation safety management.
