 Programme Background

This Technical Aircraft Management programme offers an opportunity to those wishing to develop their skills in the Aviation Leasing Sector.

Ireland is a recognized leading hub in the aircraft leasing sector. Most of the world’s aircraft leasing companies has a significant presence in Ireland. The aircraft leasing sector in Ireland has 3,000 aircraft under management, one third of the world’s total large transport aircraft fleet. This sector is experiencing strong growth at the present time.

This Level 7 Special Purpose award programme educates licensed/experienced aviation engineers and leasing support staff on the needs of the aircraft leasing sector. The programme will also benefit those wishing to work in the aviation consulting and technical support sectors.

Entry Requirements:       Candidates should be technically qualified i.e. hold a valid EASA maintenance licence. If candidates are not technically qualified but have relevant industry experiences they may be eligible for interview process. No age limit applies.

  • Registered owner responsibilities
  • Differences between Owner and Operator Registers
  • Overview of De-registration procedures
  • Overview of registering an aircraft in different jurisdictions
  • Responsibilities of the country of registration
  • Transfer of aircraft within Europe


  1. 2.    Managing Maintenance Contract


  • Reading a legal document
  • Understanding definitions, capitalized terms, clauses and schedules
  • The purpose of Technical inputs, preservations of asset value and minimisation of asset risk
  • Key areas covered include inspections, asset risk management, customer priorities, the contract, managing the contract, procedures of acceptance flight
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution


  1. 3.    Maintenance and Technical Records Administration


  • Technical record administration
  • Electronic record retention by whom and pit falls
  • Processes- the need for a systematic approach
  • Maintenance Programmes e.g. MRB and MPD


  1. 4.     Aircraft Acquisition and Finance


  • Concept of a lease agreement and how it is structured
  • Term sheets/letters of intent/legal effect
  • Understanding the issues pertaining to purchase contracts for new and used aircrafts
  • Technical records for new build aircraft, new build, spec, SFE, BSE
  • MCPH (maintenance cost per hour). FHA (flight hours agreement) fundamentals
