This course covers all the systems as fitted to the A320.
The course includes theoretical training only; Practical Training is not required for either Cat C or Gen Fam.
The course durations are as follows;
-A320 Cat C theory (with one engine) – 30 hours, 6hrs max per day (5 days).
– A320 Gen Fam theory – 30 hours, could be done with longer than 6hr days.
– Each additional engine – 3 hours.
The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the aircraft and its systems at an introductory level and give the student an overall appreciation of the aircraft.
People who are employed in a CAMO, new employees in an MRO or Operator, or anyone who needs an appreciation of the aircraft and engine systems to carry out their duties.
The course will cover all relevant aspects of the design of the structure, systems, and engine (CFM56, V2500 or CFM LEAP-1A, or any combination) of the A320, to level 1.
As the course content is the same, Cat C and Gen Fam courses can be delivered concurrently. The difference being that only those students who need a Cat C certificate will be required to sit an examination and achieve a minimum 75% pass mark.
These students will be issued with an approved Part-147 course certificate.
Upon presenting the certificate (along with evidence of appropriate experience etc.) to the Irish Aviation Authority, the students will be able to gain a Cat C licence.
For example; this would allow them to become Airworthiness Review Staff in a CAMO with authority to sign an Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC), thereby increasing their value to an employer in the aviation industry.
Note; students doing the Gen Fam course are not required to sit an exam but they will be issued with a completion certificate.
