Managing a busy Design Organisation is a constant challenge and regulatory requirements are often perceived to add to the burden. Part 21 was created to help boost the competitiveness of the aviation industry by promoting efficient regulatory and certification processes and lowering industry  certification  liaison  effort.  So, even though you are generating a compliant design, how well did you perform its

execution? How does the regulation interface with your existing management system

– and how can you ensure your DOA will deliver value to your organisation?

How will this course benefit me?

This two-day course takes a practical approach to the EASA Part 21 Subpart J regulation, providing the necessary insight to (a) ensure your organisation is fully compliant to obtain and maintain approval, and (b) to ensure the intelligent adoption of the regulatory intent without adding any unnecessary bureaucracy which could stifle innovation and creativity that is so necessary for design engineers.

Using industry experience and examples of best practice, you will explore the key elements of the Part 21 Subpart J rules so that you will not only be able to ensure your organisation is fully compliant but also that compliance is achieved with minimum disruption to the existing design management system (assuming it is performing in the first place).

Completing this course will:

Increase your organisation’s levels of compliance by ensuring you are familiar with the rules Minimise risk to you and your organisation through unwitting non-compliance

Increase your confidence to engage and discuss the regulation with regulatory authority staff Save time and improve efficiency in your business by introducing ‘best practice’

Key areas of focus

The international legal environment – ICAO, EASA, relationship with other competent authorities, etc.

Introduction to high-level applicable regulations and the structure of the Implementing Rules and supporting Certification Specifications

Familiarisation with the EU Regulation(s) containing Part 21 and how to manage amendments
