SUMMARY:Answering the Call to Lead: Future Leader Perceptions\, Motivations\, Skills and Needs
DESCRIPTION:Research shows concern amongst industry practitioners that the next generation of potential leaders\nare reluctant to step up to lead\n  \nICBE Business Excellence Skillnet and the Kemmy Business School\, UL will launch the findings of our latest study\nAnswering the Call to Lead: Future Leader Perceptions\, Motivations\, Skills and Needs\non Thursday\, 17th October 2024\nTo register\, click the CONTACT US button above \n \n  \nWe are delighted to have two keynote speakers join us on the day who will share their views on what organisations should be doing to develop future leaders and how organisations can support these future leaders to answer the call to lead. \n\nColin Curran\, VP of Human Resources\, Corporate Social Responsibility & EHS\, Teleflex Ireland\nKay Shanahan\, Plant General Manager\, Edward Lifesciences\n\n  \nFor any organisation to succeed in todays challenging business landscape\, effective leadership is essential. Having appropriate leadership succession plans in place to protect the organisations long-term viability is a crucial factor in ensuring continued growth and success. \nYet there is growing recognition amongst industry practitioners that the next generation of potential leaders are reluctant to step up to lead. What then is preventing these emerging leaders from answering their organisations call to lead? \nThis study attempts to answer that very question by providing a unique insight into the perceptions\, motivations\, skills and needs of these emerging leaders. \nIt will shine some light on potential barriers to leadership\, motivations to lead and identify the skills needed to successfully  transition into leadership roles. \nIn addition\, it will provide organisations with a new understanding of the enablers and disablers of leadership succession along with developing appropriate leadership transition strategies and approaches.

SUMMARY:Information Webinar: Language Coaching in the Workplace (L9 Micro-Credential)
DESCRIPTION:Information Webinar   \nSpring 2025 UL Level 9 Micro-Credential: Language Coaching in the Workplace \nIf you would like to know more about this new programme\nsupporting language learning and intercultural competence development in the workplace\n– join Dr Deirdre Ní Loingsigh (Course Leader & Lecturer) and Dr Catherine Martin (Lecturer)\non\nTuesday\, October 22nd at 11am \nvia Teams for an overview of the programme + Questions & Answers\n11am – 11:45 including Q&A\nClick here to register \nIreland is experiencing continued net inward migration of people from around the world\, leading to linguistic and cultural diversity across all levels of society. Consequently\, workplaces are becoming increasingly diverse and need to adapt to meet the linguistic needs of migrant workers and develop the language awareness and intercultural understandings of all workers within the workplace. This will serve to support the integration of migrant workers and create more inclusive workplaces which\, in turn\, will help to leverage the many benefits of a diverse workforce. \nHowever\, despite the benefits\, workplaces in Ireland are facing challenges in supporting workers whose first language is not the language of the workplace. Therefore\, a Micro-Credential in Language Coaching in the Workplace has been developed at the University of Limerick to support the creation of the role of Language Coach within workplaces and organisations. \nThis is a new professional practitioner role in Ireland to support effective and sustainable language learning within the organisational or workplace setting for employees from second language backgrounds. The module supports organisations seeking to develop English or Irish as a working language. \nLanguage coaching draws on elements of counselling\, positive psychology and knowledge of the affective side of language learning. \nThe Language Coach supports colleagues to find the best way to develop their language skills and confidence.
