Overview:
The primary goal of this module is to familiarise you with the key digital technologies utilised in the aviation industry, as well as the essential tools and techniques for leveraging data analytics in support of strategic business decisions.
You will delve into the world of digitalisation initiatives, such as Blockchain, 5G, SWIM, and Augmented Reality, and understand their transformative impact on the aviation sector. Moreover, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage and manipulate data using cutting-edge tools, fostering a foundational understanding of data management that is imperative in today’s modern organisations
Outcome:
Having completed this module students will be able to:
- Explain the key concepts of big data and data analytics, the business case for data analytics, and how it interacts with
aviation operations and strategies - Describe the types of analytical tools and statistical modelling techniques available to analyse business data and assess their
suitability for different types of business problems - Explain what the digital transformation is, and how the digitalisation of services and products has evolved within the aviation industry
- Critically evaluate different digitalisation options, their push and pull factors as well as their value for the industry
