Introduction to the B737NG with Max Differences

Duration:  January 12th to 16th, 2026

Cost: Funded group rate €6,000 with 25% Aviation Skillnet funding

Course Overview 

This 5-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to the B737NG aircraft, covering its systems and structural features while highlighting key differences in the B737 Max. Designed for aviation professionals, this course offers valuable insights into the aircraft's operation, maintenance, and technical aspects.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Provide a clear and simple description of the B737NG aircraft using industry-standard terminology.
  • Describe the general layout and key characteristics of the powerplants available for this aircraft.
  • Understand the differences between the B737NG and the MAX at a high level.

This 5-day course covers the following key topics:

Introduction to the B737NG and Max

  • Overview of the Boeing 737NG and MAX aircraft structures, highlighting design philosophy, advanced materials, and efficiency improvements in the MAX.

Aircraft General Systems:

  • Overview of ATA Chapters

Electrical System

  • Overview of the electrical systems for both NG and MAX, highlighting advancements in power generation, distribution, and redundancy in the MAX.

Hydraulic System

  • Summary of hydraulic systems for both NG and MAX, including design,
    redundancy, and efficiency updates in the MAX.

Flight Controls

  • Overview of flight control systems in the NG and MAX, including the introduction
    of the Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) in the MAX and its operational considerations.

Landing Gear Systems

  • Description of the landing gear systems in both NG and MAX, with a focus on
    structural updates and improvements in the MAX.

 Powerplant & APU Systems

  • Overview of the CFM56 engines on the NG and the LEAP-1B engines on the MAX, highlighting performance improvements, fuel efficiency, and operational differences. Compare the APU on the NG and Max

Fuel Systems

  • Overview of the fuel system layout, components, and operations for the
    B737NG, with a focus on updated fuel indication systems in the MAX.

Environmental Systems

  • Introduction to the Environmental Control Systems (ECS) in both NG and MAX, highlighting efficiency improvements, airflow enhancements, and cooling upgrades in the MAX.

Navigation, Autopilot & Communications

  • Navigation, Communication, and Auto-flight Systems

Flight Deck Panels and MAX Display Systems

  • Overview of B737NG flight deck panels and the upgraded MAX display systems, including larger, high-definition screens and enhanced functionality

Common Display Panels

  • Introduction to the NG's common display units and comparison with MAX display advancements for improved situational awareness.

Structural Systems

  • Key Structural Features and Materials
